What do we do?

1. Student Advocacy


 We ensure that student voices are heard at every level of the university. ASG works closely with administrators, faculty, and trustees to address student concerns around tuition, campus safety, academic policy, and student life. Our advocacy extends to lobbying for long-term changes that make Northwestern more accessible, equitable, and responsive to student needs.

2. Funding Student Organizations


 ASG allocates millions of dollars in student activity fees each year to support more than 500 student groups. From cultural organizations to performing arts, service groups to pre-professional clubs, we provide the financial backbone that makes student-led programming possible.

3. Campus Events & Programming


 We help bring the campus together through large-scale events and initiatives. ASG sponsors speaker series, cultural showcases, concerts, and traditions that enhance student life. We also partner with student organizations to provide resources and logistical support for community-building programming.

4. Academic & Career Development


 We advocate for better academic advising, fairer registration systems, improved library access, and expanded opportunities for undergraduate research. Beyond academics, ASG works to connect students with alumni networks, internships, and resources that prepare them for post-graduate success.

5. Equity & Inclusion


 Equity is at the core of our mission. ASG leads initiatives to support marginalized communities, improve accessibility on campus, and advocate for policies that create a more inclusive Northwestern. We prioritize representation by ensuring diverse student perspectives are included in university decision-making.

6. Student Resources & Well-Being


 We champion initiatives around mental health services, affordable dining, safe transportation, and sustainable campus practices. From expanding counseling resources to advocating for healthier dining options, ASG works to make everyday student life better and more sustainable.

7. Sustainability & Campus Improvements


 ASG partners with university departments to drive sustainability initiatives, such as reducing plastic use, increasing recycling and composting, and expanding green infrastructure. We also push for improvements to housing, study spaces, and technology that benefit the entire student body.

8. Connecting Students & Leadership


 ASG serves as the bridge between the student body and university leadership. We host forums, town halls, and listening sessions that bring students into direct dialogue with administrators. Our role is to amplify student concerns and ensure they are acted on at the highest levels of the institution.
