Groups.northwestern.edu is a comprehensive student group directory. Every group, regardless of ASG affiliation or status is welcome and encouraged to be listed on the directory. To have a new student group added to the directory, email the ASG Technology Director with the name of your group and the NetID of your President.
Once the group is created, it is the group's job keep the information up to date. Three group officers - two "leaders" and one "technology chair" - can update the information on the directory. To do so, go to asg.northwestern.edu/manage/.
During transition, outgoing presidents should add the incoming presidents to the directory. If former officers forget to add the new president to the directory, current group presidents can email the ASG Communication Director with a single netID and title of a current member of the board. The Communication's Director will add that officer to the directory and it will be that individual's responsibility to add the remaining exec board officers.
Important: The Student Group Directory is an independent function of the ASG Webhosting Service. Extablishing a student webmaster as the "Technology Chair" on the directory does NOT grant that person the access to edit the group's webpage. To request access to a group's webpage, see Webhosting, below.
All ASG recognized student groups can post events on the NUlink Calendar. Group presidents need to email the ASG Communication Director for access. Once access is granted, student leaders need to to login to NUlink and "add public event". For help with NUlink, go to nulink help.
To submit a featured ad on the top of NUlink, follow the guidelines on NUlink's Ad Page.
All ASG recognized student organizations started as a T, or “temporary” status group. After meeting a general set of criteria, these established groups are granted T-Status and scrutinized for up to one year. After that temporary period elapses, the group’s performance is judge and the group is either promoted to full B-Status or de-recognized all together.
For more information, see the Executive Committee Page
Funding for A-Status student groups is done through the Student Activities Finance Board (SAFB). For More infomation including SAFB Guidelines and Past funding allocations see the SAFB webpage.
Funding for B-Status student groups is done through the Executive Committee. This funding takes place in Winter quarter.
For more information, see the Executive Committee Page
Student groups on campus, regardless of ASG status, are invited to use the ASG server to host a website. To request a website, email the ASG Technology Director with the Student group webmaster's NetID and a desired url for the website. For example: Rainbow Alliance chose "rainbow". As a result their website is groups.northwestern.edu/rainbow.
Every so often the server permissions change and students will find that they can no longer update their group's website. When this happens, email the ASG Technology Director with the webmaster's netid and the url of the webpage.
Connecting to the webhosting server is a tricky process. For details see Webhosting Access Information.
